Sarath Surendran is a self taught artist who found his soul in painting only a few years ago. Growing up in India has given him a different sense of colour and may be the reason why his paintings are so vibrantly colourful. People often describe his work as happy.

Sarath is from a small town called Taumarunui where he is inspired by the surrounding nature. 

"It feels like I am in it, in every painting I do. I often say to people, 'it is not what I thought but it is what you think when you look at my work makes my paintings meaningful'."
